AIUI, there is state healthcare in (most states of?) the USA, but
it's basically means-tested; ie: not available to you unless you
can't afford private care (in their lawyers' opinion). And
healthcare is expensive there; drug prices are among the highest in
the world, and doctors and surgeons are very highly-paid.
