While dicking around with a fedora 4 install last night I noticed that
nvidia have a new set of drivers out - worth getting if your card is
relatively recent (< 3 years old approx) as there is a big performance upgrade
- glxgears was approx 800 fps now > 1000 fps. Also seems to include OpenGL 2.0.
Support for older cards is not being continued although they are still
making older
drivers available for download.
On the fedora 4 install - I used the dvd version and there was a
slight hiccup when
it went looking for the hal-(some-digits).rpm package, it ejected the
dvd and asked me to insert CD1(!) - reinserting the same dvd seemed to
work however and the
install went fine. I must say the OpenOffice is shaping up nicely.
