I have a user in mysql connection to a remote host, which has all
rights including grant. However, that user can't give rights to another
user. Everything appears to be in order, as shown below:
mysql> show grants for boss at some.mysql.server \G
*************************** 1. row ***************************
Grants for boss at some.mysql.server: GRANT SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE,
DELETE, CREATE, DROP, RELOAD, SHUTDOWN, PROCESS, FILE, REFERENCES,
INDEX, ALTER ON *.* TO 'boss'@'some.mysql.server' IDENTIFIED BY
PASSWORD '1a2154e5660c6374' WITH GRANT OPTION
1 row in set (0.00 sec)
but yet I can't grant access to a database:
mysql> create database sample;
Query OK, 1 row affected (0.00 sec)
mysql> grant all on sample.* to someuser at some.mysql.server IDENTIFIED
BY "somePass";
ERROR 1044: Access denied for user: 'boss at some.mysql.server' to
database 'sample'
Note that I can grant all privileges to someuser if I name them - it's
the "all" shorthand which doesn't work.
