Folks! We don't get paid the mega bucks as teachers to sit the class in front of typing programs we use word processors and stopwatches for fun ten minute typing tests and things. Anyway teachers are always timing things - we like the control it gives us over time and space (like poorly dresses doctor whos).
Typing programs are great for students to practice on their own but not much use otherwise in a classroom setting as you have little control over pace.
