[ILUG] Fedora desktop not running

[ILUG] Fedora desktop not running

success.

I finally got the desktop to start up correctly.
The x.org bugzilla pointed our by Kae had a few suggestions,
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2976
the first thing I tried was to start in run level 3 this gave me a
clear terminal with no corruption pointing to the Trident video
driver as the fault so in xorg.conf I change the Trident driver to
the VESA driver and desktop came up ok.

The last problem was, having restarted so often the post install
sequence was never finished so I was going to reset the FIRSTBOOT
variable to yes (/etc/sysconfig/firstboot) but I put disk1 in and
rebooted and at the start screen rebooted this for sum reason
caused it to resume the post install setup and seemed to finish
everything OK. (why I did the above I have no idea).

It would appear that the trident drivers are broken.

Regards
Philip
