That is definitely the major thing that I like about gentoo, even where a
package or application cannot be distributed via portage the ebuild to wrap it
and install it can.
As a result if you have the binaries you can use the existing ebuild for the 3rd
party app to install. Beats having to always look up the internet for any
pre-existing spec files to build an rpm of a third party package.
