If the software patents directive vote was held today we'd lose.
If we lose this vote, we've lost everything.
(if anyone thinks this is off-topic, remember that Linux possibly infringes
283 US patents - and that's just "Linux (the kernel)", not the operating
system. http://www.osriskmanagement.com/pdf_articles/linuxpatentpaper.pdf
The current text would not block any US patented ideas from being patented
in the EU.)
The vote is on July 6th, 12 days away, 4 of which are weekend days. Today
is almost over and most MEPs fly home on Friday, so really the five days of
next week are what we have.
I'm putting together a pack right now for individuals that want to do
something. The mail is about what SMEs can do.
According to:
http://www.siliconrepublic.com/news/news.nv?storyid=single4986
The ISA is pro-swpat, and has brought Irish SMEs to the parliament recently
to convert MEPs.
If we could also send SMEs to the MEPs, that would be great.
If any Irish SMEs can come over, do. When they're here, I can brief them
and help organise MEP meetings for while they're here.
