Hi all,

Iget get these errors when launching games (battlefield 1942 & medal of
honour allied assault).

Jun 25 18:42:39 snowwhite kernel: hdc: packet command error: status=0x51 {
DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
Jun 25 18:42:39 snowwhite kernel: hdc: packet command error: error=0x30
Jun 25 18:42:39 snowwhite kernel: ide: failed opcode was 100
Jun 25 18:42:39 snowwhite kernel: ATAPI device hdc:
Jun 25 18:42:39 snowwhite kernel: Error: Medium error -- (Sense key=0x03)
Jun 25 18:42:39 snowwhite kernel: CIRC unrecovered error -- (asc=0x11,
ascq=0x06)
Jun 25 18:42:39 snowwhite kernel: The failed "Read CD" packet command was:
Jun 25 18:42:39 snowwhite kernel:   "be 00 00 00 2a 03 00 00 01 f8 00 00
00 00 00 00 "
Jun 25 18:42:46 snowwhite kernel: hdc: packet command error: status=0x51 {
DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
Jun 25 18:42:46 snowwhite kernel: hdc: packet command error: error=0x30
Jun 25 18:42:46 snowwhite kernel: ide: failed opcode was 100
Jun 25 18:42:46 snowwhite kernel: ATAPI device hdc:
Jun 25 18:42:46 snowwhite kernel: Error: Medium error -- (Sense key=0x03)
Jun 25 18:42:46 snowwhite kernel: CIRC unrecovered error -- (asc=0x11,
ascq=0x06)
Jun 25 18:42:46 snowwhite kernel: The failed "Read CD" packet command was:
Jun 25 18:42:46 snowwhite kernel:   "be 00 00 00 06 46 00 00 01 f8 00 00
00 00 00 00 "

I've tried changing settings as follows:

[root at snowwhite ~]# /sbin/hdparm -d1u1c1X66 /dev/hdc
/dev/hdc:
 setting 32-bit IO_support flag to 1
 setting unmaskirq to 1 (on)
 setting using_dma to 1 (on)
 setting xfermode to 66 (UltraDMA mode2)
 IO_support   =  1 (32-bit)
 unmaskirq    =  1 (on)
 using_dma    =  1 (on)

And also:
[root at snowwhite ~]# ls -la /dev/hdc
brwxr-xr-x  1 daddy disk 22, 0 Jun 24 21:06 /dev/hdc

[root at snowwhite ~]# ls -la /dev/cdrom
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root 3 Jun 24 21:07 /dev/cdrom -> hdc

Access to /media/cdrom is:
dr-xr-xr-x   1 root root 2048 Aug 30  2002 cdrom

Suggestions?
Conor.
