Is that the one on distro watch ?

It's nothing but a page hit ranking. 

And the list changes depending on what averages you use (last 1,3,6 etc months)

I wouldn't bet the house on a page hit metric. 

Maybe the ones with the highest hits are so because lots of people
didn't know what they were and went to the page to find out once they
heard of "such a thing". (only to be delighted to find it was a linux
distro no doubt)

Or maybe it's because they're crap, and poor users go to the site
frequently looking for help ?
