This is true, they can be very bad unfortunately.
You could try the non commercial wireless.
Irishwan is a place to start i think.
Or, if you know the neighbours .....a simple p2p wireless link will
sort you out to use their bb if they have it . You could chip in for
the bb and line rental cost, or pay for the whole lot if they don't
have it already or just to sweeten it for them
