[ILUG] Downgrading from 2.6 to 2.4

[ILUG] Downgrading from 2.6 to 2.4

Hi,

I need to downgrade the kernel from 2.6 to 2.4 because I have a HCF
PCI modem and the last free full speed version of the kernel module
for this modem only works on 2.4. So I installed the gentoo-sources
and did make menuconfig. Then I did make dep && make bzImage modules
modules_install. Then I copied bzImage .config and System.map over to
/boot and updated grub.conf. I think the kernel is configured
correctly. Rebooted the machine and when I select the 2.4 kernel in
grub the machine just reboots. Is there anything that I need to watch
out for when I go back to an earlier kernel or will I need to
reinstall to go back.

Thanks

Rob
