[ILUG] UTV Domain Contact Details

[ILUG] UTV Domain Contact Details

Michele Neylon :: Blacknight Solutions michele at blacknight.ie
Wed Mar 2 20:19:37 GMT 2005

Hi

If anybody has domains registered via UTV I would urge you to verify that
the contact details for the registrant / admin-c are correct.
UTV seem to have a policy, which is in breach of industry best practice, of
registering domains with their details not those of the client.
In practical terms this means that they "own" and control the domains
entirely. If you want to modify any details or move the domain to another
domain reseller you are, in effect, "snookered".

NB: This does not apply to IE domains

If anybody else is having issues with domains and UTV I would appreciate it
if they could contact me offlist. I'm trying to ascertain how widespread
this problem is with UTV.

TIA

Michele
