Ah now I see where you're coming from. Voip phone networks are seperate to eircom's AFAIK. As in from a voip phone you can't just call anyone, they also have to be members of the voip network. Unless eircom have now allowed voip networks to link up to theirs.
Having said that you do have the option of buying a GSM kit which you can plug the modem in your alarm system into. Or depending on what type of alarm you have you can replace the modem on it with a gsm modem and just wire back in the ouputs...
