IMHO the ultimately best designed system when I last checked is or was
OpenCM, but it isn't/wasn't "finished" (by the high standards of the
developers involved). Last mailing list traffic in archive is from last
month, so it's not actually dead. It was a years-long digression for
the EROS-OS crew.
