Statements like this are very detrimental to the general publics view of 
OSS. Nothing is more stifiling to innovation than having having to 
reinvent the wheel everytime you have to write software because of 
closed source. The vast majority of IT professional  make money from s/w 
service (maintennace consultancy etc) rather than the sale value of 
software products. Eric Raymond sums all this up nicely in "The 
Cathedral and the Bizarre".

Perhaps some kind of formal letter from the ILUG outling concerns at thr 
biased vendor treatment of OSS in the public press might be appropriate 
any comments ??
