As it happens, we had implemented various local search recipes over the
years, but we've found simply using Google to be more reliable and (of
course) much lower-maintenance. The access logs on dagda indicate that
Google is rarely more than a day or two behind in indexing the site,
which seems sufficient to me.
And there are several Googlers on the list who are more than capable of
having a prod should things get seriously late.
