When I try this with the bad card, it returns with nothing.
When I try it with the good card, it returns with "Device or resource busy".
Thanks to you all for your help.
I'm beginning to wonder if the card is sick ...
though as I said it works fine under Windows,
on two different (but identical) laptops.
