You don't need to do that. Use the "pinning" feature to set your
default branch as testing, have both testing and unstable lines in
/etc/apt/sources.list, and then you can fetch -unstable-branch packages
(and their dependencies) at any time by just adding "-t unstable" to
your command.
My way's of doing "pinning" is unorthodox, but works:
! /etc/apt/preferences
Package: *
Pin: release a=unstable
Pin-Priority: 50
