The XServe RAID box is not a server - it's a big set of disks with a
fiber channel interface to connect to a file server. Staying with
Apple, you could an xserve G5 for this (Euro 2685 excl VAT).
As it happens, the xserve G5 has 3 drive bays so if you're budget
limited, you could put three 400GB disks in the server itself and
forget the raid server (less upgrade capacity).
