That's a great idea Rory, make av captcha's!   Make the captcha an image 
which links (using alt tags to explain it) to an audio file of the same 
text.   Use festival or something to create a clean wave of the text, 
and then use a few filters to distort it so you can't easily script a 
spambot past it.   If people are unable to pass either or these (and I'm 
still suggesting this is to register so a user should only have to do it 
once) then how can they use a computer?  Would we still need an email 
address at all then to cover any other cases?
