I bought a clone on ebay (not from the same vendor) for £15. Works but
the sound quality is not great. They are essentially re-purposed winmodems.

No, it is an FXO card only, meaning it interfaces with the PSTN side.
You need an FXS card to plug a phone handset into.

You probably need something like the TDM22B which has 2-port FXS &
2-port FXO, so you can have 2 incoming/outgoing line sand 2 analogue
handsets.
