I do not see the point of ccing the original sender while replying to a
mailinglist. However ILUG is set up so that the reply goes to the sender of
the message you are replying to. It takes a bit of effort to actually reply
to the list itself. This is a handy feature and means that "away replies"
aren't broadcast to the thousands on members on the list. Its a weeding out
process. It's very handy for getting round the problems of inexperienced
emailers.
I do not expect replies sent to the mailing list to be sent to me personally.
If they do then only one of them gets read and the other one not. However I
feel that its my responsibility to take the trouble to read and manage
messages in my own mailinglists! It is not an effort to exclude, not to CC.
It is an effort to include by replying to the mailinglist.
I appreciate those who remove me from the CC field. and I don't criticise
those who don't. However I try not to CC in these circumstances. It's a
mailing list after all!
