No, Steve is right. It'll work if you log in as the user who started the
screen session, but if you su to that user, it doesn't (because of the
permission issues he said). So :

ssh user at host
screen something
<ctrl+a d>
exit

ssh anotheruser at host
su - user
screen -r (will fail)

ssh user at host
screen -r (will succeed)
