No. It wasn't a personal insult. I was thinking of the toolkit
discussion in the movie where Sean Bean's character starts talking about
guns and asking which gun is people's favourite. The assumption that
everyone who likes Linux dislikes Microsoft (even outside the list) was
similar to that. The reaction on the list to that assumption was along
the lines of the other characters in the movie to the idea of having a
favourite gun.
A lot of people use Linux because it works. Similarly people use
Microsoft programs because they are best for a particular application.
It isn't really a question of liking the OS or the program you have to
use to get the job done. That was the rather obscure point of my post.
I'd hate to think what would have happened had I used a reference to a
really obsure movie. :)
