A 2Gig pentium will run anything. In the office we have AMD 1.6Ghz machines
that run KDE3.3 (Mandrake) just fine and at home I have an AMD 2Ghz machine
that runs KDE3.4 (Gentoo). I also have an old AMD K6-500 that runs Ubuntu
(Gnome)...that is a bit slow but still usable.
Most distro's come with a selection of windows managers. Just looking at this
Mandrake box I am using today and it seems to have in its software
repository: KDE, Gnome, Icewm, windowmaker, blackbox, enlightenment, xfce.
Apart from KDE and Gnome I have only used icewm on an old P166 with 64mb ram.
Its not pretty but it works.
