[ILUG] Methods for recovering file deleted from flash disks(SD etc) through linux

Hi All,

I just lost some images due to a camera or card mal-function.

I can only find commercial and windows stuff online atm, so before I
spend further time trying to find solutions I wish to probe the
collective experience of list users.

Has anybody here experience recovering files lost from SD cards or
similiar due to hardware/software malfunction ?

Can you suggest methods for recovery, or attempted recovery ?

I have write-protectected the card, so assuming it's not the problem,
the FileSystem should be intact and (i hope) most of the data still on
there.

I would like to make a soft image of the disk, and make attempts to
repair it, or manually analyse it to retrieve image data if possible.

Can I do this using the camera or will i need a card reader ?

Any other suggestions re procedures and or (linux) software that could
be helpful here ?

Thanks

D
