Quoting Braun Brelin (bbrelin at gmail.com):

You seem to be having some difficulty, here. By "software work" I
meant, as should have been obvious from context, his aforementioned
work in "leading the effort to gain big-business acceptance of open
source software".

> This thread has been about the response that ESR wrote to Microsoft.

Which cited that work.

It is obvious that you _do_ dare -- and aren't even embarrassed by that
sort of wallowing in personal sniping.

I believe you've managed to exemplify my point wonderfully.

> While I hold no love for Microsoft, this response was completely

To reiterate, _had Eric asked me_ my opinion about his draft, before
sending, I'd have told him:

1. It'd be much better without crude language and imagery.
2. While it's true that you personally lead the effort to gain
big-business acceptance of open source, and did much more than
anyone else in that department, and though any reasonable
observer would follow your inference that you've been Microsoft
Corp.'s worst nightmare in that critical area, it comes across
as boasting and will draw flamage.

But I wouldn't be going around bitching about his post, given that he
_didn't_ ask me. That would be rude, and would be making bizarre
assumptions about why my personal opinions were supposedly of interest.

That would, in short, be behaving like you -- albeit with much more of a
civil tongue and reasonable attitude.
