Hmm, well the compile worked :)
Try something like:
make CC=gcc32
where gcc32 could be gcc32 or gcc33 or gcc-3.2 or gcc-3.3, etc,
depending on how your distro installs older versions of your compiler
(you might need to apt-get install it too). Presuming it's a gcc4
issue of course..
