We use OpenGroupware, and it does work. If you're prepared to put the
time in, it's API is quite extensive and useful, in 71 lines of python I
could build a command line contacts search tool for integration to
little-brother/mutt;

And for calendaring the Zidestore part of Ogo supports WebDav and iCal
files, so you can edit away from within iCal, sunbird, outlook or the
Mozilla Calendar extension; and happily ignore the web interface.
