[ILUG] [OT] USB under isa??

[ILUG] [OT] USB under isa??

Declan Moriarty junk_mail at iol.ie

Was this ever done?

WHY?? Because I want to transfer data from a p233/64MB box in my
workshop which runs from a machine with an industrial pc card (the
whole motherboard on a large ISA card, sticking into an isa
expansion slot). This thing runs m$ windows 98 fairly reliably,
largely because they have a hack in win.ini. The line

shell=explorer.exe   is commented out :-D.

It looks like this

; shell=explorer.exe
shell=pinpoint.exe

Pinpoint.exe steers me into test software for electronics. A USB
card for an isa bus would be the ideal. Second preference is
setting up the nic I finally got to be seen in there. It's a crazy
box (e.g. no xms, all ems required to work) but continually
creates valuable data which I would like to be able to back up. It
also creates data files under dos, and it is a convenient place to
leave the scanner...

If I have to go for plan B: (Set up the nic) what makes the least
impact on a windoze 98 system? This is a very weird environment
designed with '286 machines with loads of drivers in mind :-/.
