[ILUG] SuSE 10 sluggish

[ILUG] SuSE 10 sluggish

Hello all,

I've just upgraded my computer from Suse Linux 9.3 to Suse Linux 10.
I've also installed the patch updates as suggested by YaST.

One thing I've immediately noticed is that the new interface is really
sluggish. There's a definite time lag between the time I click on a
window and the time that the window appears in the foreground of my
display. Sometimes this lag is 2-3 seconds. I have a pretty fast
system with 1 GB of RAM, an NVidia GeForce 5500 graphics card and an
AMD 64 bit Athlon processor. I didn't notice this lag on Suse 9.3.

I've gone into Yast on Suse 10 to see if there is any relevant option
for the graphics card and monitor but with no luck.

A modprobe -l | grep -i agp shows that I seem to be using the nVidia
AGP kernel module. Could this be an issue vis a vis the linux agpgart
kernel module? In other words should I be using the linux agpgart
instead?

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Braun Brelin
