It seems to me that your FC-4 system is far from up-to-date.
I would suggest that before you try upgrading
you run "yum update" on the FC-4 system
(if you still have it).

I just upgraded FC-4 to FC-5 2 days ago,
and there were no conflicts at all.
(About 250 packages were updated, with about 350 transactions.)
