Interestingly it did work with an iBook (10.4.8 I think) but the
MacBook still won't connect, using the same passphrase (mixed case and
numbers) - it comes back straight away with the error you get when you
try to join with an incorrect key. Entering the details manually and
telling it to use WPA2 doesn't work either.

Strange...
