[ILUG] [very OT] snail-mail lottery/Nigerian fraud

profuse apologies, this has nothing whatsoever to do with
Linux or FLOSS, other than I poked around a bit on the
'net from a Linux system to see if this was a new trick
 or not .....

some fraudsters snail-mailed me what is almost verbatim
the typical e-mail lottery fraud ... you have won ... our
system broke down ... please immediately fax us your bank
details and don't tell anyone ... blah blah blah ... yeah,
 sure, right away!

for examples of similar letters, some of which apparently
 were also snail-mailed, see:

    http://www.joewein.de/sw/419lottery-by-mail.htm
 and/or:
    http://blog.supersurge.com/latest-email-scams/2006/2/6/euromillones-spanish-sweepstakes-lotteryinternational.html

who on Earth would fall for a mis-spelt English letter sent
from Spain to an address in France “promising” money for
 nothing?
are the fraudsters really rolling in lots'o'money? — it cost
0.57 € to snail-mail this obvious bit of phishing, plus paper,
envelopes, &tc, so the sums would (seem to) quickly add up.

apologies again, this essentially nothing to do with Linux
 or FLOSS.

cheers!
