Good afternoon,
There is a temporary / contract position opening at Hosting365 for a
'Junior Unix administrator' available immediately.
We're looking for someone who would be available as soon as possible for
a term of at least 4 weeks with a possible extension.
We'd like to see candidates with the following experience:
* Good working knowledge of Linux. We use CentOS / RHEL primarily, but
an all around good knowledge of GNU/Linux is preferable, we understand
most of that knowledge is transferable.
* Working knowledge of other Unix and Unix-like operating systems an
advantage (Solaris, FreeBSD etc.)
* Good knowledge of the following protocols:
- HTTP
- SMTP
- POP3
- DNS
* Good working knowledge of Apache
* Familiarity with any of PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, ASP, Perl, Python,
Ruby, Qmail, Postfix is a bonus.
* Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. This is probably the
most important thing you can have.
* Good communication skills
It's a dual-role, acting as a buffer between the front-line support
staff and senior engineers, as well as performing Linux deployments, and
managing customer machines. The scope of the role will be directly
determined by the ability of the candidate.
The salary for the month is negotiable depending upon experience, level
of expertise etc. Bear in mind, there will most likely be a technical /
practical element to any interviews.
