You assume there's no value in the GPLv3 software. That the DRM using
embedded-app maker can easily choose something else without losing
value (or having to spend resources in adding lost value to
alternative $NON-GPL software, if it even exists).
The other possibility is that the embedded-app maker decides that
going with the GPLv3 software has more value than going with DRM.
