[ILUG] Promoting "FOSS Means Business" event, 27 days to go

Ciaran O'Riordan ciaran at fsfe.org

This event has a great potential to increase acceptance of Free Software in
businesses across Ireland, which is something I'm sure 100s of people on
this list would like to see.

We've got Perens and Stallman, and a big venue with no entrance fee, but we
need help in telling everyone about this.

March 16th is 27 days away and because it's a daytime event, a lot of
attendees will have to book time out of the office, so we want people to
hear about it while that is still practical, and while it's still practical
for them to tell their boss and/or the head of the IT department to put it
in their diary too.

The website is complete:
http://foss-means-business.org/

And there's a page to help people promote the event:
http://foss-means-business.org/Promotion

I worked on that during last night, and I'm working on a press release now,
but from putting "foss means business" into google, it doesn't look like the
news of this event is spreading yet.

On that promotion page, I've put descriptions of the event, a list of places
that still have to be informed of the event, and some basic PDF flyers that
can be stuck on an office or college notice board.

Any questions or suggestions, either mail me or stick them on the wiki. Any
and all help would be useful.

One person suggested a bus from Cork, via Dublin, to Belfast. I think
that's a great idea, but I haven't gotten around to enquiring about the
cost. (Knowing the level of interest would also be useful, as would knowing
if that bus should make other stops.) If someone else knows, please tell
me.

We've got a room that can take 750 people, so a large number of attendees
isn't a problem. (and the room can be reconfigured to take 1150, AFAIK.)

thanks.
