I have just fixed a twin xeon server here, and it's complaining about
"no microde update for cpu 1" and a similar message for cpu2. So it
stops there, and customers get upset because it's nagging them.
I'm no intel fan, (Anyone But Intel here!) but I do know it's something
that has to be loaded every boot. Where can I get it? Google points out
everyone has bucketfuls of pdfs written about it. A search like
+xeon +microcode +update +download,
even one restricted to Dell, or intel just produces hot air in pdf,
when I want ones and zeroes in binary, and a simple installation
process. Has anyone waded far enough through the bilge to point me to a
url on this? Does the BIOS load this?
