Well, as long the question were about /Ubuntu/ Linux. Hopefully at 
the next AGM we'll be able to formally change the name of ILUG to 
IUUG.

I think you know it already, given the "without powering down" 
comment but, just to be clear, the microcode is not in flash, it's 
indelibly etched into the CPU - the firmware update therefore has to 
be done every boot.

No idea. Check intel.com for 'CPU drivers'???
