Actually, I'm in hardware. It's just basic instincts for survival :-).
I would take the partition today, and backup the entire drive at once.
Glad it helped, or may help. Also, if it's an ide drive (Showing how
much I know about Macs) Farnell do a 40-44 pin ide adapter cable :-D.
Unless your fs screwed up, your hard disk is going, going, gone.
If you have major partitionns that work, do it by partition.Then you can
wipe them and dd onto them from your crap one.
