If you can access to the web interface, you will see the model when it asks
for the credentials. Once inside, check for System Status and you will have
information about the BIOS.
PS: By default, Telefonica ships its modems with 192.168.1.1 and password
1234

The hardware type approach to identifying kit is to get the FCC ID, which is
usually on the circuit board, (even on unbranded nics and the
like) and look that up.
