Don't know the answer to your question, but thought I'd suggest
an alternative solution, at least to the port forwarding limitations.

It sounds like you could tell the Zyxel to forward all the ports
of interest to the same ports on your Linux gateway, and forward
the ports again from there to the real destination. Not as clean
as doing it all on the Linux box, but it should let you do what you
want to do.
