I've been lurking on the list for a while and much of the content is
technical - However, I hope that this is an appropriate forum to ask
about this. I'm trying to get as many different perspectives as
possible.
I'm in the process of carrying out research about factors the
influence how Indigenous Irish Software firms manage the impacts of
the F/ OSS software movement. According to my hypothesis, the options
available to firms are dependent on these factors. i.e a firm may
choose a proprietary approach if they are operating a very
specialized market, or in a more commoditized market might choose to
concentrate on professional services etc.. These options are only
available to them if they have the resources and capabilities to
capitalize on these options.
If anyone on the list is working for an indigenous irish software
company - I would very much appreciate your feedback - I have put
together a short survey to explore some of these factors. It is about
32 questions with some optional questions at the end. http://
