[ILUG] external USB2 multi-hub "wont work" under Linux

Hi.
Have a NVidia onboard usb2 hub - two ports connected to it work fine
under Linux at usb-2 speeds.

Bought a little usb2 "multi-hub" in Maplin, worked fine under WinXP.
When I rebooted to Linux (FC1 - dont hit me) there was no heartbeat in
my usb stick when I inserted it into the external hub. And of course
when I tried to mount the usb stick no go.

When I check the output of dmesg I got errors - which I should have
noted (this was my home system).

I have googled on this and found a lot of stuff to read but if there is
an obvious
rpm -i USB2Fix.rpm
type fix I'd be grateful to be told about it,

thanks,

John
