I was looking specifically at the desktop market.
Good point about MS Office... is it safe to assume that MS Office is the de-facto standard on Windows OS? Any figures or research on this greatly appreciated.

PJ,
In which arena; Desktops, Laptops, PDA's, Servers, on-line,
Embedded...?
There are a lot of different computing systems and thus there are a lot of
different figures bandied about.
Also remember that MS Office only works on MS Windows (I think they ditched
their Mac line). OpenOffice and others work across platforms.
Also there very few reliable figures. Most are extrapolations or guestimates
IMHO.

Subject: [ILUG] Current OSS market share?
I was wondering if anyone has any reliable info on current operating system
market share? What % of the market does Linux currently have as compared to
Windows?
I was also looking for stats on the market share of MS Office.
Thanks in advance...
