I was looking at the use of forced commands with ssh and was having
some problems (which have been resolved - simple typo) and while
debugging I of course ran ssh -v and saw this in the output:
debug1: Enabling compatibility mode for protocol 2.0
debug1: Local version string SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_3.6.1p1+CAN-2004-0175
debug1: An invalid name was supplied
Configuration file does not specify default realm
debug1: An invalid name was supplied
A parameter was malformed
Validation error

debug1: SSH2_MSG_KEXINIT sent
debug1: SSH2_MSG_KEXINIT received
What are the error reports starting "debug1: An invalid name was
supplied" about? I have googled, but I only turn up sections of other
people's problems where they have included some -v output, and these
errors aren't specifically addressed. If I crank ssh up to -vvv I get
one more line of output before the first occurence of debug1: An
invalid name was supplied which was
debug3: Trying to reverse map address 192.168.1.100.
but I don't think that really adds anything.
Note that this isn't causing me any problems - I can ssh to the remote
box and do what I need to do, but I'm curious as to what the error
messages mean.
