[ILUG] RHEL3 and USB hotplugging

Is RHEL3 supposed to automount USB memory sticks/flash drives when inserted?
This doesn't work here at all. I have two devices, both of which register
with devlabel ok, and while one is added to fstab, the other is not
("drive not ready"), and none gets mounted. Both work fine under vmware
 on the same machine, though.

 How can I debug this?
