[Previous commentary snipped]
Ah the joys of working for a company! We could have been a lot
more helpful with our suggestions if you had told us they were all
barking mad! This is, in fact
YOUR bias vs. your CFO's bias with the IT department acting as a
purely random filter and large amounts spurious noise from other
management when they see you can't agree. If she doesn't get m$,
she can never be fired, because "She was never let do her job
properly".
You can give us the IP range, and I am sure a few here could
convince them to use open source software shortly after they put
their windows boxen online :-D.
I see somebody going down in a tailspin here. Does it matter what
the facts are? This is bias. Also be aware that servers will be
depreciated by accountant types and after 5 years they are worth
nothing on paper. So why rely on them?
As for compiling anything like Firefox, about the best instructions
are on the Linuxfromscratch site
/rummages
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/stable/xsoft/firefox.html
but then of course I run lfs, so I would think that. ymmv.
