It sort of depends what you're doing. At one point some time ago, I was
asked to set up a database search so that people would get all results
regardless of fadas, eg so that:
"O Donaill" would match "Ó Dónaill"
One way was to index everything with the fadas stripped out and then strip
them from the search string too. Then they get the above matches (not to
mention the reverse). I didn't feel it was ideal, but it did what they
wanted.
