[ILUG] [OT] New Irish PHP User Group

[ILUG] [OT] New Irish PHP User Group

Dear All,

This mail may be of interest to some members of ILUG hence the posting.

Over the years I have noticed many mails to the ILUG list relating to
web development, in particular PHP.

I have remonstrated with myself and others long and hard on this
before deciding to go along this road. As I am a very active PHP app
developer, I find mail lists and resources, in particular online and
local resources invaluable daily. One of the problems I have
encountered, either by lack of contacts, geographic location etc, is
the interaction with other Irish PHP developers.

In order to address this, I have decided to help bootstrap the
creation of an Irish PHP Users Group by registering a domain and
setting up an initial mail list. This mail list is available at the
following URL;

http://lists.iephpug.org/mailman/listinfo/phpug

The list is now open for subscription however initially I have
configured it not to accept posts from non members.

It is not for I to dictate the direction of this user group, and thus
I am not going to provide a list of aims etc, bar the one, which is
the support and encouragement of the Irish PHP development community.

So if you are a PHP developer and are interested in helping form a
user group in Ireland, please feel free to join the list.

Additionally, other web technologies are not being neglected too,
myself and a colleague are in the process of setting up
iewebbuilders.org to serve the other web development communities in
Ireland (Perl, Java, ASP etc)

If you wish to discuss this further with me, please do so off list so
we don't clutter up the main ILUG list.

Yours
AJ
